Our Team
Charles Houska
Owner
Pop-artist Charles Houska (pronounced House-ka) is a pillar in the arts after more than 30 years as a working artist and gallerist. In addition to his continuous studio practice, he has supported and cultivated the St. Louis art scene, contributing his iconic branded style. Houska made his mark in his hometown of Springfield, Illinois, returning to a full-time painting career, after earning a B.A. at Illinois State and working in Chicago as a graphic designer. Through painting, Houska’s vision began to materialize, soon becoming his namesake gallery in St. Louis, Missouri. Since opening the HouskaGallery in 1998, Charles was quick to gain attention, painting everything in sight, doing commissions, murals, and renovating the property as a grassroots entrepreneur. He has since been credited not only for creating his own hullabaloo, but being integral in launching careers and paving the way for many prominent artists in the city. This is a mission that has now expanded, with Charles at the head of Team Houska.
Lauren Tracy
Curatorial Director
Multi-hyphenate may be the best description for the newest addition to the Houska team. As Curatorial Director, Lauren brings her experience as an artist, small-business owner, interior stylist, home-renovator, and art therapist to the table. Whether updating the facade of the gallery or finding ways to support our artists, Lauren is always striving to keep the energy flowing. She holds a BFA in Fiber Art with a minor in Sculpture from the Savannah College of Art and Design as well as an MA in Art Therapy Counseling from Marylhurst University, near Portland, Oregon. Outside of the gallery, Lauren spends her time connecting and building relationships with other artists, discovering ways to beautify her home, experimenting in her studio, and taking long walks with her dog, Berry.
Teddy Linder
Gallery Coordinator
After spending 15 years abroad, world traveler Teddy Linder has found himself a home here in St. Louis. While living in countries like Senegal, France, Sweden, and many more, Teddy earned a profound understanding of international culture. Family ties brought Teddy back to St. Louis, where he is wrapping up his final year at the University of Missouri Saint Louis. International business has been the primary focus of his studies, while concurrently developing a curiosity about St. Louis’s art scene. As the coordinator for Houska Gallery, Teddy brings a unique blend of sophistication, street cred, and technological skills to the team. He is interested in helping local artists grow, trying new cuisines, and future travel plans to expand Houska’s reach internationally.
